Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has condemned the killing of a United Nations staff member in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry said it received with great concern the news of the killing of Mr. Bol Rhoch Mayol Koul, a South Sudanese national who was serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan as a language assistant.
The incident occurred on December 15, 2025, in Wau town.
The Ministry, on behalf of the Government, extended condolences to the family of the deceased and to UNMISS, describing the killing as a heinous crime.
It said the Government unequivocally and categorically condemns any attack against personnel serving with UNMISS or other international organizations, noting that such acts are unacceptable and constitute a serious violation of the laws of the country.
The Ministry further reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to accountability, saying decisive steps are being taken to ensure those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
According to the statement, the Ministry commended the leadership of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces Division Five for the swift arrest of a suspect linked to the killing.
Authorities say the suspect is currently in custody and awaiting further investigations.
