Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Western Equatoria Governor, Alfred Futuyo promised to settle part of the Nadiangere community who have been living as IDPs
The governor said that the affected will be resettled in Yambio town from November this year.
The communities sought refuge in Yambio town following the intercommunal conflict that took place in the state between 2020-2021.
Futuyo said the registration and assessment of the communities in Saura, Ndaviro are ongoing ahead of the planned repatriation.
Nadiangere is about 105 miles from the state capital and has been isolated from the other payams due to the poor road network.
Futuyo encouraged the communities to spearhead the development of the area without asking for help from outside.
Also, he called on the community to embark on agriculture and open markets, schools, and health centres that will make the area attractive to the people.
In addition, he hailed the community for bush clearing along the roads and promised to construct the Sue Bridge to ease the movement of people and goods.
The area chief, Benjamin Wani, welcomed the decision by the state governor to repatriate the internally displaced back home.
He expressed the community’s readiness to return home to build their livelihoods and enhance development.
