Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The senior officials of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) hailed President Salva Kiir’s decision to appoint Tut Gatluak to the Political Bureau.

The officials described the move as “new energy to the party.”

Unity State Governor Joseph Manytuil, said the party would benefit from the appointment of Gatluak, given his political experience.

“Tut Gatluak Manime is a committed comrade, and we need to appreciate him for his extraordinary commitment and loyalty to the SPLM leadership,” Manytuil said.

Manytuil argued that appointing new members to gel with the old ones was a great idea since this would ensure that they grow the party together.

“Our veterans who fought tirelessly to liberate us from all forms of marginalisation must remain as beacons of our freedom toward building a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan,” he said.

He called upon the people of South Sudan to display the spirit of nationalism and patriotism during this critical situation of peace implementation.

Speaking at the same event, SPLM Deputy Chairman Daniel Wet Akot stated that the party would continue to welcome strong members into the party in order to add strength.

Awet appreciated President Kiir for appointing Tut as a new member of the SPLM PB.

He applauded Tut for rallying behind the president to ensure that peace prevails in the country.

He called on the SPLM members to insert efforts in ensuring that South Sudan have peace.

Gatluak, who is the Presidential Security Advisor, appreciated the SPLM leadership for the new assignment and promised to continue rallying behind the leadership.

He promised to work hand in hand with the party officials to ensure that SPLM achieves its vision and mission.

Gatluak was among the new faces appointed to the SPLM Political Bureau after changes were made in the top leadership in preparation for the upcoming election.
