Gatwech claims Machar making military purchases in Sudan to resume Magenis onslaught

Africa-PressSouth-Sudan. South Sudan’s main armed opposition group, SPLM/A (IO), led by former opposition military chief Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual has claimed that First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny is making military purchases in the Sudanese capital Khartoum in preparation for resumption of attacks against opposition commanders including Gatwech who are opposed to him in Magenis.

This comes in a statement in which General Simon Gatwech said he won’t accept to reconcile with Machar until when the opposition chief accepts to endorse the Kitgwang Declaration in which General Simon Gatwech Dual and other senior opposition commanders such as Gen. Johnson Olony and Thomas Mabor Dhol attempted to remove him.

“It’s clear that the first Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr Riek Machar, is working hard to destabilize the peace agreement in the country,” a statement by SPLA-Io spokesman Brigadier General William Gatjiath Deng who is allied to Gen. Gatwech reads in part.

“As from now his military team led by former military intelligence Maj. Gen Dhiling Keak Chuol, is busy in Khartoum acquiring military logistics to continue operations in Magenis,” the statement extended to Sudans Post added.

It further said “this spirit of launching war against others during the peace time is forbidden and regarded as a sign of complete failure and that is a clear indication that, Dr. Riek Machar is against the peace agreement.”
