Africa-Press – South-Sudan. At least 10 South Sudanese youth including the President of the National Youth Union, are in the United States for a six-week training on leadership and innovation.
The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the founding flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative.
The program trains accomplished young leaders with established records of promoting innovation and positive impact in their communities and countries.
SSNYU president Gola Boyoi and BEATec Founder Gak Malek are among those selected for the YALI fellowship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Juba, the 10 fellows departed to the United States to participate in a six-week program of leadership training at top American universities.
“They will learn about public management, business, and civic engagement, and will meet and network with other young leaders from across Africa.”
Every year, the Mandela Washington Fellowship selects 700 young leaders from across Africa to be trained on empowerment initiatives and how they can make a difference in their communities and countries.
