Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The government is mulling an allocation of one billion pounds to sensitise the citizens about the extended transitional period, popularly known as the roadmap.
According to to Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, the roadmap awareness programme will focus on the states and the three administrative areas.
Lado Kenyi, Undersecretary Ministry of ICT and Postal Services, confirmed that the awareness project will begin this year to ensure that citizens at the grassroots understand the initiative.
“The Ministry of ICT and Postal Services has an estimated budget of SSP 1 billion and SSP71 million for the first of the project dissemination and a lesser amount for the second and final year,” Lado said.
It will use radio, television, print, and social media as platforms for sensitization.
“The dissemination is expected to run for the entire transitional period of the roadmap: from February 23, 2023, to February 22, 2025.
“These dissemination activities shall start from the capital, Juba, but are mainly planned for the 10 states, three administrative areas, and the various towns and localities,” he added.
He added that the project would be funded through existing peace budgets.
“With reliable and sustainable disbursement of funds… there will be no doubt that the roadmap will be efficiently and effectively disseminated, implemented, and the objectives achieved,” he said.
The principal peace partners agreed on the extension of the term of the peace agreement to allow them to implement the pending key chapters to the 2018 peace agreement.
