Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Governor of Western Equatoria State Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba has hailed Muslim businessmen for their outstanding efforts in maintaining relative price commodities in the state.

Futuyo said that despite the challenges being witnessed in the country, the businessmen’s efforts have halted the prices of commodities from rising in the state.

“As we continue to commemorate this momentous occasion, allow me to take this opportunity to thank our Muslim traders in the state for their tireless efforts, particularly in keeping commodity prices stable in the face of the country’s challenges. I think you people deserve the credit,” Governor Futuyo stressed.

The official also urged all traders to maintain the spirit of equitable price distribution throughout the state to benefit all citizens.

However, he appealed to the Muslim faithful and other traders to keep politics out of their businesses, saying: “everyone is your consumer and you expect them to buy from you.”

Futuyo was addressing thousands of Muslim faithful who gathered at Yambio Freedom Square during the Eid al-Fitr celebration on Monday.

The Governor emphasised the importance of embracing peace in the community, adding that peace was the only way for people in the state to enjoy development and economic growth.

“At this time (Eid el Fitr), let us promote peaceful co-existence among us, let us unite ourselves, and come together and work together for the betterment of our country,” Futuyo stressed.

He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to working together with everyone including Muslims for the development of the state.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Muslim community in Yambio, Hussein Giris, echoed the community’s commitment to supporting the government in developing the state through adhering to the laws and regulations of the state.

“As the Muslim community in the state, we are ready to cooperate with the state government. We are part of the state citizens, so, our contributions towards the development of the state will always be available,” he stated.

Mr Giris urged his fellow Muslim members to forgive and co-exist peacefully as the Eid al-Fitr celebration continues.
