Governor Lojore, top security chiefs visit Nimule to diffuse rising tension

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State Louis Lobong Lojore led a high level security organ to a visit in the border town of Nimule amidst rising tension in the area.

The governor was accompanied by Chief of Defense Force Gen. Santino Deng Wol, Inspector General of Police Gen, Majak Kech Malok, Director and the General of Internal Security Bureau of the National Security Service Gen. Akol Koor Kur.

Namule residents have been living in fear following the recent attack in Mugali Payam by the by cattle raiders.

The meeting brought together representatives of both the herders and the host community who presented their grievances to the security team.

The governor called for concerted effort to address the emergency issue brought about by the influx of cattle into the area.

He also appealed for the herders to evacuate the animals back to Jonglei State to avoid further escalation of conflict between the keeper and farming communities.

The Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Santino Deng Wol, urged politicians to refrain from sowing the seeds of discords among communities even as he urged the leaders to help settle disputes among communities.

Louis has called on the leaderships of Jonglei State and Pibor Administrative Area to withdraw their people from Eastern Equatoria to avoid making the state a ‘war theatre’.

Over the Weekend, the Eastern Equatoria State and members of the Bor community accused each other over the brewing conflict pitting cattle keepers against the host community in parts of Magwi and Nimule counties.
