Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Governor Joseph Manytuil is not under house arrest, his office has clarified.
Peter Bakuony, the Press Secretary Office of the Governor has strongly dismissed allegations that Manytuil is under incarceration.
“This is propaganda,” Bakuony said in a statement without revealing the wherebbaouts of his boss.
He added: “We take this opportunity to inform the public to disregard fake news circulating on social media (that the governor) is under house arrest.”
The governor has reportedly been recalled back by President Salva Kiir.
Bakuony claims that the news is being propagated by people who would like to see the governor out of office.
Controversy has been courting Manytuil for the better part of this year.
The embattled state Unity State boss survived a vote of no confidence barely two months.
The Council of States had recommended to the president to impeach the embattled governor over alleged involvement in “extrajudicial killings” of Mayom County Commissioner; and continued insecurity in the state.
The attempted impeachment failed after the office of the president turned down the request of the council of states to fire Manytuil citing failure to follow the laid down protocol.
