Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Upper Nile Governor James Odhok Oyay plans to establish several police posts in the state to boost the desired security in Upper Nile.
The state boss said that he will work with local and international organizations to stabilize the state, which has been choking under the threat of insecurity.“The government is designing plans to increase the number of police stations in the town in order to increase the speed with which the government responds to crimes,” added Oyay.
Governor Oyay said that he is working with state security organs on ensuring total stabilization of the security situation in Malakal town.
He further called on IDPs living in Protection of Civilians (PoC) sites to engage fully in the peace process.
Paramount Chief, Adam Ajak Gwang, speaking on behalf of the community leaders, called on the governor to take care of all the people in the state.Governor Ayay has been traversing the expansive state, including some of the remotest and most insecure places like Tonga, in the last two weeks alone, in search of lasting peace.
The governor, accompanied by a long entourage of state advisors, ministers, MPs, and heads of organized forces, assured the PoC residents that his leadership style is different in that the safety and protection of the lives of his citizens are second to none.
The rally, organized by the leadership of the PoC camps to give the governor a larger platform to speak to the PoC residents, attracted a crowd estimated to be in the tens of thousands.
