Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Eastern Equatoria State Government condemned the attack on humanitarian vehicles in Lafon County, Eastern Equatoria State on Wednesday this week. Speaking to Juba Monitor yesterday, the Eastern Equatoria State Minister forInformation,Patrick Oting Cypriano said that insecurity in the State had risen and they were working hard to calm the situation and bring perpetrators to book.
“State government is trying to deploy security forces to take care of what is going on in the State. We are going to find a solution that would deal with people who loot properties on the road,” he said.
Martin Lojok, the Executive Director in Imejehek said that the attack on humanitarian vehicles was carried out by the alleged youth from Locharok Payamand one
suspect who shot WFP car was arrested. “According to information from Police,one of the suspects was arrested and investigation is going on,”Lojok said.
Meanwhile, PeterLokengLotone, the Minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement in Eastern Equatoria State said that lack of community policing at grassroots contributed to insecurity in the State.
“It is not only the Government to provide the safety and security without a work of community. It is all of us as the citizens in the State,”Lotone said.
On Sunday, an incident was reported in Locharok of Lafon County in which the local authorities revealed one suspect arrested for shooting at the humanitarian
vehicle. Authorities said this was not the first incident where unknown gunmen attacked humanitarian vehicles in the State. On Tuesday this week, a convoy of World Food Program came under attack on the way from Imehejek.
