Gov’t declares three-day long public holiday for Eid al-Adha

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The government has declared June 28-30, 2023, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid el Adha.

Mary Hillary Wani Pitia, the undersecretary at the country’s Ministry of Labour, issued a circular directing both government and non-governmental agencies to take note of the arrangements.

“The national Ministry of Labour hereby informs all the civil service institutions, commissions, diplomatic missions, UN agencies, international and national non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the public at large that Eid el Adha Holiday commences on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023,” the letter reads in part.

The work is expected to resume on June 3, 2023, Monday.

Eid el Adha is a religious festival for all Muslims around the world that marks that the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca
