Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The South Sudan’s Revitalised Transitional Government of National Unity has issued a directive for the reduction of fuel prices effective immediately.
The Ministerial Order No. 06/2025 modifies fees on Diesel, Petrol, Jet A-1 and Lubricants from $0.5 to 0.2$ per litre on Trade license as embodied in the Financial Act 2024- 2025.
Atong Kuol Manyang, the Minister of Trade and Industry, urged the proactive implementation of the order, underlining that it is vital to stabilise petroleum businesses.
“It must be implemented by the relevant authorities with immediate effect from the date of its signature by the Minister,” Atong said in the order obtained by Sudans Post.
“The purpose of the order is to stabilise refined petroleum products businesses that are struggling due to the current economic hardships and to reduce smuggling,” she added.
The order was issued under Article 114 of the Transitional Constitution 2011 as amended and section (13), Sub-section (7) of the Imports and Exports Act, 2012.
The directive comes amid a turbulent time for the country’s economy, catapulted by corruption, foreign aid cuts, and local and regional conflicts.
