Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A mammoth crowd led by political leaders congregated at the Juba International Airport to welcome the men’s national basketball team.
The Bright Stars jetted back today after making their first but unsuccessful stab at the 2023 FIBA World Cup that is ongoing in the Philippines.
Wrapped in South Sudan’s national flag and some dressed in yellow tops with vuvuzelas tacked in their mouths, the fans made their way from the airport as they snaked through the streets of Juba in joy to usher the team a heroic welcome.
The Bright Stars finished third in the group after beating China and suffering defeats to Serbia and Puerto Rico in their maiden appearance at the prestigious tournament.
