Africa-PressSouth-Sudan. Controversial South Sudan minister of humanitarian affairs and disaster management and leader of the Opposition consortium, Other Opposition Parties (OPP) has said that he is still the leader of the group and that [people are not usually terminated on Facebook.

Mayen was removed in September by a group of fellow party members as leader of the People’s Liberal Party (PLP) effectively terminating his leadership of the Other Opposition Parties after involvement in a domestic violence that sparked calls for his arrest.

However, Mayen has in recent days appeared to have been still the leader of the group with members of Other Opposition Parties flanking him in a press conference following a meeting with President Salva Kiir Mayardit in late September.

Now he is saying that he has not been removed as leader of the OPP and accused some officials of making statements on social media which he said contravene the way in which party leaders are removed from their positions.

“I have never been terminated and people are not terminated in Facebook,” Mayen said referring to a statement posted on Facebook by the OPP about his removal.

“When you terminate a party leader like me, it is only done through a general assembly. You invite the members of the national executive committee and it is the committee that will come out openly and say ‘we have terminated you,’” he added, according to City Review.

“But you cannot just go and sit in a place of tea or be in your Facebook with your drink and you just push something to the media,” Mayen stressed.
