Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Senior presidential advisor and former minister of defense Kuol Manyang Juuk has said that he want to resign from politics saying running government offices is distracting him from important tasks he would do as a private citizen in the private sector.
Manyang was appointed as governor of Jonglei state by then Sudanese First Vice President and President of the Government of Southern Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit on December 15, 2007 to replace then Governor Philip Thon curtail cattle raiding and abduction of children in the state.
Manyang was appointed in 2013 as defense minister by President Salva Kiir Mayardit following the dissolution of the cabinet on July 23rd the same year.
Speaking to a local radio station last week, Kuol said he want to retire from politics and move to the private sector. “I have done my part in the war of liberation, in politics. I have been a governor for five years and a minister for seven years,” he said.
“That’s enough for me, I just want to go to the private sector, and do not want to engage myself in running such offices because that will distract me from what I want to do,” he added.
