Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir said he will personally supervise the disarmament of civilians in Warrap State.
President Kiir added that he will not allow his soldiers to continue dying in Warrap State because of the intercommunal fighting among civilians.
He made the comment during the centenary celebration of the 100 years of Kuajok Catholic Church in Warrap State on Sunday.
Kiir said he fought the Sudanese regimes that used heavy weapons, and that he will not be overwhelmed by confronting civilians who carry weapons.
“I do not want any soldier to die in Warrap State again, and I will not let civilians in Warrap to carry weapons,” Kiir said.
President Kiir told congregation that he fought the Sudanese regimes that were using planes, tanks, and other heavy weapons, but still he did not flee from them.
“I will disarm the civilians, and if they want to fight with me, I am ready to fight with them, and I will be the commander who will give orders, there is no problem,” Kiir said.
The head of state embarked on a weekend-long state tour, touring Western Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap, and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states. On his tour to Wau town, President Kiir encouraged the women to ensure their girls stick to school.
