Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation has warned the public not to be duped by online scammers.
The warning comes after the ministry flagged down a fake Facebook account created in the name of Mayiik Ayii Deng, the minister for foreign affairs, and international cooperation.
The fake account called on the public to apply for long and short-term loans and grants. The ministry, however, rubbished the allegations adding that Mayiik does not own a Facebook account.
“Disregard the following fake Facebook account created with the name of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. For your information, Mayiik Ayii Deng isn’t on Facebook and is not using it at all,” the ministry warned.
“The ministry is not in any way involved in giving loans to companies in the country. Beware!
“Don’t become a victim of cyber criminals using the names of some government officials to scam the public.”Top government officials, including finance minister Agak Achuil Lual, Jemma Nunu Kumba (Speaker), former Mayor of Juba City Council, Kalisto Lado Faustino, among others have fallen victim to online scams.
In January 2022, Agak warned the public against being duped by impersonators using his name to ask for support on social media.
