Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Government of Jonglei State has clarified that the incident which occurred on Sunday in Uror County’s Motot Payam was a family misunderstanding and not politically motivated, as some social media reports suggested.
According to Jonglei State Information Minister Nyamar Lony, the situation arose from internal family tensions and was misinterpreted online, leading to speculation of political conflict.
“This is a family misunderstanding and has nothing to do with the political developments or tensions currently happening,” she stated.
The minister said Uror County Commissioner James Gatkhor Gatluak, along with paramount chiefs, went to Motot to address and resolve the matter.
Officials confirmed that the misunderstanding led to clashes, resulting in one injury.
“Fortunately, no lives were lost, and the injured individual is receiving medical attention in a hospital in Uror County,” Minister Lony added.
The state government urged the public and media to refrain from politicizing the issue, emphasizing the need for accurate information and calm.
