JUBA — The Juba City Council has issued a legal notice directing all individuals operating businesses from temporary structures along road reserves, pavements, and public walkways to relocate within three days to designated markets, approved business zones, or private properties with proper authorization.
In a document seen by Sudans Post and signed by Emmanuel John Loro, Legal Advisor of Juba City Council, the council warned that anyone found vending in prohibited areas after the deadline will have their goods confiscated as part of efforts to restore order and ensure the safe use of public spaces.
“This notice is issued by Juba City Council pursuant to its statutory powers under the Local Government Act 2009 and Juba City Council bylaws. Juba City Council hereby issues this legal notice to all individuals conducting business operations from temporary structures along road reserves, pavements, and public walkways of all roads within the jurisdiction of Juba City Council,” he said.
He stated that the reason for the order is to ensure the free flow of traffic, reduce congestion, and ensure public safety and security, all in support of unimpeded pedestrian movements.
He added that the order aims to facilitate planned sanitation, road maintenance, and infrastructural development in Juba City, as well as to restore order and compliance with the Juba City Council master plan and zoning regulations.
“You are hereby ordered and directed to vacate your current business location along the roads and to remove all temporary structures, equipment, goods, and materials associated with your business within three (3) days from the date of this notice.”
He emphasized that any failure to comply with this order within the three (3) day period will result in immediate enforcement action by Juba City Council officials, supported by law enforcement, and legal prosecution for obstruction and violation of Juba City Council by-laws and continued unauthorized use of public land.
“Any person found vending in the prohibited areas after the deadline will have their goods and merchandise confiscated, and any temporary structures, tables, restaurants, kusuk, or shelters erected in these areas will be demolished and removed without further notice.”
