Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Juba national stadium will be opened in September, National Ministry of Youth and Sports, said.

Albino Bol Dhieu, Minister of Sports on Thursday said that work at the facility is 90 per cent done and the rest will be accomplished in the next two months.

Albino spoke exclusively to The City Review when he accompanied the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe to the site on Thursday.

The South African later paid a courtesy call on President Salva Kiir where City Review understand the two presidents discussed matter of mutual concern about sports infrastructure in South Sudan.

Motsepe also inaugurated the Pan African Inter-Schools Championship in Buluk Playground, Juba yesterday.

The league is a brainchild of CAF.

To promote sports in the country, Dr Albino said he has received equipment for live broadcasting from the United Nations Population Fund Agency (UNFPA).

Among the equipment donated included large flat screens, cameras, transmitters, and high-speed internet, for video conferences.

Albino described the donation as a great addition to the ministry, “I was not able to attend some international conferences in the past due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s world has become in which conferences are held using telecommunication.”

“ I will have great and many works with UNFPA in coming weeks such as developing youth capabilities and in next week we will discuss the youth capacity development law in the national parliament,” he said.
