Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir donated a sum of SSP70 million to support the Azande Kingdom as the kingship commemorated its second anniversary on Friday, February 9, 2024.

The donation was announced by the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Joseph Bakosoro, who represented the head of state at the function held in Bazungua Payam in Yambio County, Western Equatoria State.

Kiir urged the kingdom to continue being the symbol of peace and unity and bring the people of Western Equatoria State together.

“Our president sent a small amount of money for the kingdom to start its activities; he gave SSP70 million,” the minister said as he handed over the cash and called on the official in charge of the activities of the kingdom to begin their duties.

He further added that the Managing Director of Nilepet Mr Bernard Amuor and the governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong, had contributed SSP10 million and SSP2 million respectively.

Bakosoro, who served as a governor of Western Equatoria State back in the years, called on the people to work harder and support the kingdom as it seeks to restore the country’s cultural heritage.

The Azande Kingdom is now two years old since it was restored after the kingdom over 100 years ago due to colonialism.
