Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir, in a series of Republican Decrees issued last evening, has relieved Dr. Esterina Novelo of her position as Chairperson of the HIV and AIDS Commission and removed Simon Puok Nyang Tutjiek from his role as Commissioner of Akobo County in Jonglei State.
In her place, Kiir has appointed Dr. Justin Kawac Makuei as the new Chairperson of the HIV and AIDS Commission.
Dr. Kawac, formerly the head of the Intensive Care Unit at Real Day Care Hospital, holds a Master of Medicine in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care from St. Paul Hospital, a Doctor of Medicine degree from Southwestern University, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne, all in Australia.
Meanwhile, Simon Puok Nyang Tutjiek, a member of the SPLM-IO, was initially suspended by Governor Dr. Riek Gai Kok on April 21 after rejecting the governor’s move.
He has now been replaced by James Kueth Makuach, a member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition.
In another decree, President Kiir appointed a committee to oversee the reorganization of NilePet for reform.
The newly appointed committee will be led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum as Chair, with the Ministry of Public Services serving as Deputy Chair.
Additional members include representatives from the Petroleum & Gas Commission, the Director General for ISB-NSS, the Secretary-General, the Managing Director of NilePet, and the Director General of NilePet Upstream.
