Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir on Friday removed the head of the Presidential Medical Unit Dr. Andrew Akon Akec and appointed a former undersecretary in the Ministry of Health as his replacement.
In a republican decree read on the state-own TV SSBC, Kiir relieved Dr Akon from the department based at the state House, J1.
In a similar republican decree, the president appointed Dr. Mayen Machut Achiek to serves in the position.
Dr. Achiek is the former Undersecretary in the national Ministry of Health.
Kiir then appointed the former head of the presidential medical unit as Technical Advisor to the health ministry.
The Presidential Medical Unit is responsible for the medical needs of the Office of the President staff. The unit also provides medical care to the president.
