Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued several republican decrees on Monday night, dismissing the deputy governors of Jonglei and Upper Nile states.

In his inaugural decree broadcasted on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), Kiir dismissed Jacob Akech from his position as deputy governor of Upper Nile State.

Subsequently, the president appointed former state minister of animal resources, Atong Kuol Manyang Juk, as Akech’s replacement.

Atong previously served as the minister of animal resources and fisheries until her replacement by a presidential decree last Friday.

In Upper Nile state, Kiir removed Ayong Awer Lual from the role of deputy governor and appointed Deng Joh as the new deputy governor.

Joh will now be the most senior member of the ruling SPLM party in the state.

The president did not provide reasons for these changes.
