Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir Mayardit has replaced South Sudan’s ambassador to neighboring Uganda, Simon Duku Michael, appointing Simon Juach as the new envoy for the world’s youngest country to the fellow East African Country.

In a statement on Wednesday, the presidency said the new ambassador met President Kiir at his office in J1 for a farewell meeting in which the head of state instructed the incoming ambassador to strengthen relations with Ugandan authorities.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit today bid farewell to South Sudan Ambassador designated to Uganda, Simon Juach at the Office of the President,” the statement a copy of which was seen by Sudans Post reads in part.

“The meeting between the President and the ambassador focused on the current cooperation between South Sudan and Uganda and how the relations can be improved with special emphasis on the Economy, Trade and Security,” the statement added.

The statement said the diplomat “made a courtesy call today prior to his departure to his work station in Uganda” and that President Kiir “highlighted to the ambassador the importance of South Sudan’s relations with Uganda.”

“The President wished the ambassador good luck in his assignment and urged the ambassador to contribute strongly to the development of the bilateral relations between the two Countries,” the statement added.
