Kuol Manyang, Awet Akot meet Mabior Garang in Juba

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. JUBA — South Sudan’s Senior Presidential Advisor Kuol Manyang Juuk and former Presidential Advisor on Military Affairs Daniel Awet Akot have both met Mabior Garang De Mabior, son of SPLM founder Dr. John Garang De Mabior in Juba on Tuesday.

Mabior Garang returned to Juba last Friday following years of exile throughout which he criticized the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit for being adamant to the implementation of the security arrangements provided for in the revitalized peace agreement.

In a statement, Kuol Manyang and Mabior Garang along with his delegation discussed reconciliation and compromise which Manyang said must take place despite the politician differences.

“Senior Presidential advisor, Kuol Manyang Juuk and the former presidential advisor on Military affairs, Daniel Awet Akot, received and held a conversation with Mabior Garang De Mabior the Son of the fallen hero, Dr. John Garang and his accompanying delegation in Juba on Tuesday,” the statement by Manyang’s office said.

Manyang said “despite political differences, politician should be willing to compromise and to correct what they think should be corrected peacefully.”

For his part, former SPLM-IO Chairman of National Committee for Information and Public Relations Mabior Garang said he “would collaborate with the national Leadership to bring about lasting peace in South Sudan.”
