Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Commissioner of Lainya County has announced the successful completion of the Lainya County Agricultural Cooperative Store, a project funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BMZ) in partnership with ACROSS and Christian Blind Mission (CBM).

The project which began in March, 2023 is designed to support local farmers by providing a centralized location to sell their produce and access essential agricultural supplies.

By improving market access and streamlining the distribution of farm goods, the initiative is expected to boost productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and contribute to the overall economic development of Lainya County.

Commissioner Robert John Lasu Morris, said that the project represents a significant step toward empowering smallholder farmers and strengthening the county’s agricultural sector.

He described the collaboration with ACROSS, CBM, and the German government as a model for partnership-driven development initiatives.

“The cooperative store will provide our farmers with the tools and market access they need to improve livelihoods and support sustainable growth,” said Hon. Robert John Lasu Morris.

The Commissioner also noted that details regarding the official launch of the Lainya County Agricultural Cooperative Store will be announced soon, encouraging the local community to stay tuned for further updates.

The project reflects a continued commitment to enhancing food security, supporting rural economies, and empowering farming communities across Central Equatoria State.
