Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Lakes State Transitional Legislative Assembly passed the 2023–2024 fiscal year budget worth SSP 25 billion.

The acting speaker, Ayen Ador, said the SSP25 billion budget will enable them to pay the pending salaries.

“We have passed this budget today; we are here to represent the will of our people,” she said.

“About 400 per cent, of the six ministries that have not received their salaries will receive their salaries. We are here to work for them.”

The state minister of finance and economic planning, Majok Anhiem, said SSP 25 billion was the total resource envelope, which was passed with amendments by the state assembly.

“This SSP 25 billion comprises three chapters: chapter one, which is the salary; chapter two, which is the operation cost; and chapter three, which is the capital,” he explained.

“Also, it includes 400 per cent of our civil servants’ non-line ministries, including the ministry of health but the only one that has not been reflected is the ministry of general education because their money comes directly from the national government,” Majok said.
