Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar denied claims of asking the Minister of Interior, Angelina Teny ‘to prepare the ground for election.”

In a statement released on Wednesday, acting press secretary in the Office of the First Vice President Puok Both Baluang said Dr. Riek Machar did not make such a remark during the swearing-in of the new officials of the ministry of interior.

“It has been brought to our attention that the press unit of the office of the president has made false claims on their Facebook page that H.E the first vice president Dr. Riek Machar made a statement during the swearing-in of the new minister of interior and deputy minister of the interior on Monday urging the new officials to prepare for a conducive environment for the election next year,” Puok said.

He said the claims were unfounded and had no basis in reality.

“The first vice president did not make any such statement during the ceremony.it is unfortunate that the press unit of the president chose to disseminate false information to the public and hereby misrepresent the position of the first vice President,” Puok stated.

He said such actions are not only unprofessional but also unethical.
