Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan’s former army chief General Paul Malong Awan Anei has declared that he will launch a full blow military operation against the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit in all parts of the world’s youngest country.
In a statement to Sudans Post this afternoon, Maj. Philip Deng Kuol, the deputy military spokesman of South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) led by Malong, said Malong gave the directives during a meeting, in Nairobi, of the group’s high military command.
“SSUF/A leadership has declared operations against government. Following meeting from High Command Council, all field commanders are directed to launch operations against government forces across the country,” he said in a statement to Sudans Post.
The rebel group warned “to innocent civilians, foreign truckers and NGOs to avoid random movements in … areas” of the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region stating immediately.
The opposition officer said continued attacks against SSUF/A in the Bahr el Ghazal region should “be treated as a total violation of the recently signed Rome Declaration of Principles (DoP), Cessation of Hostilities and Ceasefire Compromise we together inked with South Sudan’s interim government.”
“As a result from the meeting of SSUF/A high command, our operation commanders in (sector one) are vividly directed to launch a fortificative military operations to block the movement of government forces who are searching for our military outposts in those locations and also emphatically cut their logistical procurements,” he adds.
