Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Mangalla Payam beat Dolo Payam to win the historic first edition of the Jubek Inter-Payam Championship Cup.
Mangala Payam’s first-half goals from attackers James Pitia and Peter Laku were enough to secure their first-ever cup.
The Mangalla outfit won the game 2-1, as Dolo’s Paulino Sissy scored a free kick in the 85th minute after being reduced to ten men but that was just a consolation.
Top government officials attended the final, led by Vice President James Wani Igga at Juba’s Buluk Playground.
The Jubek Football Competition was created to commemorate the contribution of later Jubek, the founder of Juba County, and to bring youths together as peaceful individuals capable of embarking on constructive ideas.
