The Acting Mayor of Juba City council Thiik Thiik Mayardit has urged citizens to cooperate with the japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as they clean up Juba city.

Over the weekend, City Council and Juba Rajaf Solid Waste Management launched their second phase campaign in three blocks that is Muniki, Juba, and Kator.

Addressing the Media, ThiikMayardit said they are delighted to JICA representatives to south Sudan that they came with full force to help the people of South Sudan.

“JICA is trying to help us so that we can cope up with other countries because we are left behind and we did not get the chance to develop our country,’’Thiik said

He added that JICA is here to give us technical training and Advise, while the rest will be left for us, urging all the people of juba to help and cooperate with JICA hand in hand to make things run smoothly for us all.

On his part, the Director of Environment and Sanitation, GasimErasto Ibrahim, said that this launching of cleaning up in Hai kosti Melekia, is to keep Juba clean, green, and beautiful.

“The aim of the launch is to monitor peace and harmony in development of Juba town because of the waste, the water and the diseases from others and I hope through the campaign juba will be clean from water-borne disease and it should be of interest of our people in local communities in Juba and other areas.’’ Gasim cited

He added by appreciating the work of local Government in Kator Block and their support towards the citizens of Kator Block and told them to maintain peace and development.

“My message to the people of Kator is let us prevent our environment and Health through keeping our environment clean and green,” he added.

However, the Chief Representative of JICA in South Sudan,Sagara Fuyuki said that, “we are very pleased to have participated in this cleanup campaign and it is great to see people collaborating,it is very important because in every country it is necessary to achieve this kind of cooperation, especially in storage waste management,”

He added that“last week we had the same event in Muniki Block and this week we having itin Kator Block and next week we will have the same in Juba block and this is a kind of awareness rising approach program in the cross-collaboration of Juba City Council and JICA,”
