Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A Western Equatoria State politician and SPLM member, Mboriman Edward Mbory, advised the youth not to shelve their political ambitions in the upcoming elections, as he counts him in.

Addressing thousands of football fans on Sunday at the Mundri West County headquarters, the politician urged young people to unite and take leadership roles in the nation.

“Elections are coming and… you are not growing young. You aren’t leaders of tomorrow, but today. We want this time around our youths to aspire for the gubernatorial position,” he said.

He then called on the people of Mundri to train their eyes on the WES gubernatorial seat, arguing the region had played second fiddle for so long.

“Our people (the eastern counties) have been deputy governors for so long. This is not a monopoly, anarchy, or, as Dr. John De Mabior said, neither one’s majority nor anybody’s minority. We are all eligible,” he said.

He lamented the fact that young people should be encouraged to foster peace among them to create the conditions for peaceful elections to take place in the nation.

For him, the only thing young people should be dreaming about is reaching higher goals and hoping to win the top leadership position in the next election.

In 2012, Mborimaon expressed interest in running for governor when the elections were scheduled for 2015 only to be disrupted by the 2013 war.

However, he has yet to clearly declare his candidature in the 2024 elections.

South Sudan is anticipated to hold its election this year although it is unclear whether the election will take place due to divergent opinions from parties. Mboriman is the sponsor of “Mboriman’s Inter-Payam Super League.”

The tournament is organized for over 17 payams of Greater Mundri.
