Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) has presented the drafted National Revenue Act to the Justice Ministry for deliberations.

The act will strengthen the office of the Commissioner General with the hope of increasing revenue collection.

“As you are aware, revenue authorities around the world face numerous challenges from people who refuse to pay taxes; they must be able to ensure that everyone pays tax,” NCAC chairman, Gichira Kibara, said.

he added, emphasising that they would be able to ensure adequate collection and accountability.

“We have secured the commissioner’s tenure to do the work without interference,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Joseph Malek Arop, said the ministry will ensure that the document will be presented to the Council of Ministers by next week.

“We are waiting for legislation related to financial institutions and other legislation. “We will work hard to submit this bill to the Council of Ministers, and from the Council of Ministers (CoM) we will table it before Parliament to pass it,” Malek said

“We will present it to the Council of Ministers next week,” he added.

After the presentation of the National Revenue Authority Act 2016 (amendment) Bill 2023, the minister will now forward it to the CoM and then to parliament.
