Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Warrap State government has devised plans to stabilise security in the area following the directive by President Salva Kiir.

Speaking to The City Review on Sunday, Warrap State Information Minister, William Mayom, said there is a plan for the governor to tour the whole state and assess the challenges to be addressed.

Governor Kuol Muor returned to Warrap State last Saturday after meeting Kiir in Juba over the increasing insecurity in Warrap and its neighbours.

“My message is that the government of Warrap State can maintain security and it is also working hard to ensure that total peace and stability are brought to the state,” Mayom said.

“The governor will be touring the counties to spread the message of peace and to deploy forces in hotspot areas along the borders as planned ahead of the dry seasons.”

He said the clashes between Abyei and Twic, Gogrial East, and Marial Wau of Jur River County have been contained.

Also, he revealed that the security along the road between Warrap and Western Bahr el Ghazal states has improved.

“Roads are opened between Warrap and Western Bahr el Ghazal states. For cattle migration, a committee has been established to work on how the cattle are migrated from one place to another, it is led by the minister of local government,” Mayom said.

The minister said over 75 per cent of Warrap State cattle usually graze in Western Bahr el Ghazal State.

On February 15, 2024, before departing for Ethiopia for the AU Summit, President Salva Kiir met with Warrap State Governor Kuol Muor and directed him to stabilise security in Warrap State.
