Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The National Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened an office in Torit town, Eastern Equatoria State, ahead of the forthcoming general election.

Addressing the gathering at Torit Freedom Square, Issa Muzamiz Sebit, the party chairman, said the office will bring the party closer to the people.“Our party is preparing for the upcoming election. We shall be moving to other parts of your state, and when you see yellow somewhere, you have to know it’s the same people who came here,” he said.

Sebit added that a plan is underway to open offices in all eight counties of Eastern Equatoria State.

“We want the power to change the lives of the communities of South Sudan, and this power comes through elections.

“We share in the ideology of liberation.

Oriaja Johnson, the state deputy youth chairperson, welcomed the NPP to Eastern Equatoria, saying it was a demonstration of the expansion of democratic space in the country.

“Now that democracy has come, we have a choice for any party that we want and that can provide services for its communities.”

In his message through the state information minister, Governor Lobong urged all the political parties in the state to use the country as a uniting factor.

“We understand we have different political views and manifestos, but our nation should be our uniting factor for our common goal,” said Lobong.
