Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Charles Madut Akol, has received three bodies of individuals killed in Khor Kaltan, Central Equatoria State, following an incident that occurred on 28 March 2026.
Speaking to the media, State Minister of Information and Communication Gabriel Deng Yel confirmed that the deceased—Anei Atak, Deng Tong, and Aher Diing Aher—were from Korok Achien Yor in Aweil North County.
Minister Deng said the state government has conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, adding that a total of nine men from the area lost their lives in the attack.
He said the victims had been working in the area to support their families.
“This the saddest moment for the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, including the Republic of South Sudan. The people we have lost here are those who were going about their daily lives, they were working in that area to support their families back home in Northern Bahr el Ghazal. They were not doing anything bad,” he said.
He added that three other bodies are on their way to the state but were delayed in Tonj following a vehicle breakdown.
Authorities have urged the affected families to remain strong during this period of mourning.
Governor Akol was accompanied by advisors, the Speaker, ministers, Members of Parliament and security officials during the reception.
