Africa-PressSouth-Sudan. The Other Political Party (OPP) group led by South Sudan’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Peter Mayen Majongdit has resolved its internal issues which delayed appointments of their members of parliaments and caused rift on social media.

According to press unit from J1, OPP members paid a courtesy call to president Kiir on Friday where they discussed their contentious issues facing their party, particularly the nomination of their members to the national parliament.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit, received and held a meeting with the members of other political parties to discuss and resolve outstanding issues within the party regarding the nomination of members to the transitional National Legislative assembly and council of States”,Said in a statement by Presidential Press Unit.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the Minister of information, telecommunication and postal services, Michael Makuei Lueth confirmed that all the internal disputes within the OPP have finally been resolved and the list of their nominees for both the National and State parliaments will be submitted in no time for appointment.

According to the statement, Peter Mayen Majongdit, the Chairman of OPP reiterated that the members of OPP have reached consensus on modalities to present the lists of the members of parliament as well as council of states.

In the attendance during the meeting was the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak Manime, Cabinet Affairs Minister, Dr. Martin Elia Lomoro, Senior member of National Alliance, Kornilo Kon and other members of other political parties.

The OPP has been going through internal political standoff in their coalition as many members of OPP accused Peter Mayen numerous times of practicing nepotism and favoritism by appointing and promoting his own family members through tickets of the umbrella group (OPP).
