Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The parliament on Wednesday retabled and passed the wildlife conservation and tourism bill 2022.
Several bills including the Wildlife Conservation and Tourism Bill were initially passed in the absence of SPM-IO lawmakers after they withdrew from the parliament in protest of the controversial Political Parties’ Bill.
Following the stalemate, President Salva Kiir directed the Speaker of the August house to re-table the bills.
On Monday, the parliament overwhelmingly passed the Constitution-making Process Bill.
Today, it also passed the Wildlife Conservation and Tourism Bill, maintaining the military ranks in the directorate.
“Today [Wednesday] we have finalized the Wildlife Conservation Bill which was one of the bills to be re-table as directed by his excellency the president of the nation,” Hon. Agany told Eye Radio following the sitting.
“We have gone around the region and all the wildlife personnel are in uniform and with ranks so there will be nowhere that South Sudan will be singled out to have a civilian uniform”.
The bill is pending President Kiir’s signature for it to become law.
