Police commence probe on suspected bank robbers

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The police are investigating an incident where robbers attacked and stole some money from an individual in Juba on Wednesday. The three robbers who were aboard a vehicle fired bullets into the air to scare the residents and give them away to escape with the money. But the residents of Munuki managed to arrest them and later handed them over to the police.

Police spokesperson, Maj. Gen Daniel Justin said they had launched an investigation into the incident, adding that the robbers may have stolen from a bank.

However, he declined to disclose the amount of the money seized from the robbers, saying they could not reveal the amount until the investigation is complete.

“We have just launched the investigation, and we are not going to disclose everything to the media. “Let us first finish our work, then we shall be able to give you all the details because we found it to be a robbery case,” Justin told The City Review in a telephone interview yesterday.

One of the eyewitnesses reported that the robbers were chased by some concerned boda-boda riders alongside the bank’s vehicles. He said the robbers were seriously beaten before they were handed over to the police.
