Politicians accused of using youths for their own agenda

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Chairperson of National Youth Union yesterday disagreed with the Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster for blaming the youth for the crises in the country at the same time urged politicians who are fond of using the youth for their own interest to stop taking advantage of them.

This came after the Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior pointed fingers at the youth and blaming them for the mess that occurred in the country since 2013.

In an exclusive interview with Juba Monitor, the Chairperson of National Youth Union Gola Boyoi Gola saidyouth has a greater population in the country and most of them are unemployedmaking it easy for the politicians to use the youths to fight on theirbehalf.

“We believe that we have been used as tools or fuelby politicians because most of the times, young people are vulnerable.First ofall, youths are 72% of the entire population and that means that we are themajority in the country and maybe 80% or 90% of the young people are jobless so,it’s going to be very easy for them to be recruited by politicians to advancetheir agendas,” Gola said.

He stated that youths were not the problem but thepoliticians are the ones causing problems within this country because youthsare vulnerable. He also added that young people were supposed to beblamed politicians not the other way around.
