Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir Mayardit met yesterday with the King of Chollo Kingdom, His Majesty Reth Kwongo Dak Padiet, to discuss ways of ending the ongoing violence in the Upper Nile region.

The continued fighting between the Agwelek and Kitgwang forces in some parts of Upper Nile State, especially in the Shilluk Kingdom, prompted the government to relocate the king to Juba last

But while addressing the NLC meeting last week, Kiir promised to meet the King after he was airlifted to Juba.

The Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Tut Galuak Manime, told the Presidential Press Unit that the discussion was aimed at bringing total peace to the Upper State.

He added that President Kiir remained saddened by the ongoing violence in the area.

Tut emphasised that Kiir continues to call on the leaders of the Greater Upper Nile to team up with the government in resolving the violence in the area in the hope of creating peace and harmony.

King Kwongo, on the other hand, called upon the people of Upper Nile to shun violence and join hands and work together to restore peace, unity, and development in the area.

King appealed to Upper Nile communities to shun conflict, and hate speech but focus on various ways of bringing the conflict to an end.
