Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Governor of Jonglei State of South Sudan, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, has urged newly sworn-in commissioners of Akobo and the State Revenue Authority, who took oath on Monday, to put the interests of the people first ahead of their own interests.
Dr. Gai made the remarks while officiating at the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed commissioner of Akobo County, James Kueth Makuach, and commissioner for revenue authority, Donge Gai Donge, on Monday at the state secretariat in Bor town.
“The accomplishment of your tasks will prove your ability to fulfill campaign promises,” said Gai.
Gai urged the newly appointed leaders to prioritize community welfare and uphold transparency, accountability, and the People First approach.
He assigned the new officials the responsibility of promoting community development, including tackling infrastructure deficiencies and improving public services within their local governments.
“We stand firmly behind Commissioner James Makuach to maintain stability and address the needs of Akobo’s communities.”
He emphasized the vital role of local government in enhancing connections between the state government and the community.
James Kueth Makuach, the Commissioner of Akobo County, spoke on behalf of the newly appointed officials and pledged his commitment to delivering services to the grassroots level.
“I am committed to working with all stakeholders regardless of political or ethnic differences to foster peace, stability, and progress,” said Makuach.
Makuach assured the governor of his commitment to foster development and unity in Akobo County.
