Raiders kill herdsman, injure two others in Warrap State

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Armed raiders attacked a cattle camp, killing a man and wounding two others in Warrap State on Tuesday, December 20.

The state minister of information, William Wol said the incident occurred in Manyangok Payam of Tonj South County.

Wol said the armed bandits attacked a camp, before being repelled by the security forces while attempting to steal cattle.

Minister Wol accuses youth from Cuibet county of Lakes State of having launched the attack.

“Yesterday, armed suspected youth from Lakes State’s Cuibet county attacked a cattle camp in Manyangok Payam. In the incident, one citizen, the owner of the cattle was killed and two others were wounded,” said the minister.

“When the gunshots were heard where the security forces were deployed, they fortunately, rushed to the scene and the cattle were recovered and the suspects ran away to the direction of Cuibet county, Lakes State.”

In response to the accusations, Lakes State Spokesperson William Koji said he is not aware of the incident.

Koji then added that his government will investigate the attack to ensure that the culprits are arrested to face justice.
