Africa-Press – South-Sudan. At least 30 South Sudanese members of the recently reconstituted national legislature are about to be sent to neighboring Kenya and Rwanda for what the ministry of parliamentary affairs is saying would be an ‘exposure visit’ starting November 20.

Speaking to reporters in Juba on Monday, minister of parliamentary affairs Mary Nawai Martin said the visit will begin on November 20th by traveling to Kenya and the next group would travel to Rwanda.

“We have managed to secure funds for 30 female MPs to go outside South Sudan and that is in Kenya and Rwanda for exposure visits,” she said.

“What I am expecting from them is to know how a woman as a citizen of the country can raise motions of the issues affecting people,” she added.

The senior government official further said the lawmakers “will be able to understand how women can also raise motions, how women can stand their grounds and debate what they want the government to do for them.”
