Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan’s National Police Service (SSNPS) has announced the arrest of at least twelve (12) armed criminals in the country’s capital Juba over alleged killings and possession of counterfeit money, according to a statement issued this afternoon.
“The Central Equatoria state police [Criminal Investigation Department] arrested 12 South Sudanese suspects and one foreign national who killed two people and injured one police officer,” the police statement, a copy of which was extended to Sudans Post, reads in part.
According to the brief statement, the criminals were caught red-handed possessing at least eight AK-47 riffles, one pistol, 96,900 counterfeit US dollars, and 132,000 black dollars and said the suspects have also admitted to committing the killings and the injuring of a police officer.
“The suspects were found in possession of 8 AK47 rifles, one pistol and 96,900 fake dollars and 13,2000 black dollars. The suspects were arrested after the reports of four incidents of armed robberies cases at Hai Baraka, Gudele and Hai Mauna residential areas,” the statement said.
The statement said “the suspects are said to be the most notorious offenders who robes people at gunpoint during night hours.” “The criminals confessed during investigation to have killed two people and injured one police personnel at Hai Baraka in Juba. The Inspector-General of police Gen. Majak Akec Malok called on people to report any criminal activities to nearby police station.”
