Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan and Qatar have penned an airspace service agreement to boost infrastructure.
The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority inked the agreement in Doha, Qatar.
The agreement was signed by Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, the CEO of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and Capt. Subek David Dada, the CEO of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, according to Qatar news lets.
Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Qatar’s Minister of Transport, and Simon Mijak, South Sudan’s Minister of Roads and Bridges, and Acting Minister of Transport and Roads witnessed the signing.
“The two country’s officials discussed methods to strengthen Qatari-South Sudanese ties in civil aviation, transportation, and transportation services.”
The agreement comes in the context of connecting Qatar with more air service agreements that open airspaces for the national carrier to fly to more destinations around the world.
When contacted for comment, Stephen Rombe Tako Lojulo, Director General for Air Navigation Service at the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority, said he had not received official notification of the agreement but confirmed that a delegation had traveled for Qatar to discuss bilateral relations.
“I haven’t received the information yet, but the CEO, along with the delegation from the Ministry of Transport, is in Qatar for bilateral agreements, specifically on air services transport and other developmental cooperation,” he said.
