Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A South Sudanese national has submitted his application to the Ministry of Interior for the renouncing of his citizenship.
Dr Raymond Taban Ladu filed the application with the intention of renouncing his South Sudanese citizenship in a letter sent to The City Review yesterday, dated January 26, 2022.
Dr Ladu currently resides and studies in Botswana, and he intends to apply for citizenship in the South African country.
Ladu’s brother told The City Review yesterday that he (Ladu) voluntarily submitted an application letter to the Ministry of Interior, declaring his intention to renounce his South Sudanese nationality.
He cited the issue of favourable taxes and school fees for foreign nationals studying in Botswana as the main reason why his brother took the bold step of renouncing his South Sudanese nationality to shift to the South African country.
When contacted, the South Sudan Police Spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin, confirmed that Dr Ladu had tendered an application to the Ministry of Interior and that the plea would follow the due process.
“The application was made by the applicant voluntarily and was forwarded to the Inspector General of Police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Immigration,” Maj. Gen. Justin confirmed.
