Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan opposition leader and interim leader of the SPLM-IO reformist faction, Duer Tut Duer Makuac, has formed a 29-member interim oversight committee to oversee the activities of the SPLM-IO dissident group months after he attempted to remove First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny as leader of the main armed opposition SPLM-IO.
According to the leadership order extended to Sudans Post and signed by Duer, the functions of the 29-member committee “shall commence upon the signature of this order by the interim chairman and terminate immediately with or after the establishment and formation of the permanent organs and structures of the Movement.”
“In exercises of the powers of the Interim Chairman of the SPLM-IO (the Reformists), I, Duer Tut Duer Makuac, do hereby issue this order of the establishment of the Interim Committees to manage the current affairs of the SPLM-IO (the Reformists) in D1,” Duer further added in the order.
The committees are Coordination and Oversight Committee, Political and External Affairs Committee, Humanitarian Affairs and Human Rights Committee, Information and Media Committee, Resources Mobilization and Management Committee, and lastly the Popular Organization (Youth and Women) and Gender Committee.
Each committee is composed of a number of officials forming the basis for the 29-member interim committee and according to the order, the committee will be “chaired by the Representative, deputized by the Coordinator, assisted by the Secretary and the three members of the Coordination and Oversight Committee.”
